Gemini in Google Slides: no side panel and how to turn it on

Symptoms

• There is no Gemini icon in Slides
• The panel opens but says the feature is unavailable
• It is there on a personal account but not on a work one

Causes and fixes

1. The account has no Google AI Pro or Workspace plan with Gemini

What to do: For a personal account get Google AI Pro in Google One; for a company check the Workspace plan

2. The Workspace admin turned off Gemini for the organization

What to do: Ask the admin to turn on the Gemini service in the admin console for your unit

3. The account language or region does not support the feature

What to do: Set the account language to a supported one such as English and reload the page
