Google AI Studio is a workspace for Gemini models: chat with the newest models without a subscription, a long context for whole books and video recordings, system instructions, structured output and an API key for your own scripts in Sheets, Make or n8n. For office work it is a way to test a task on a strong model for free and build an automation without a developer.

On the free tier people may review conversations and files to improve the product: put work documents in only after moving to the paid tier
An API key in a Sheets script or an automation scenario is visible to everyone with access to the file: keep it in secrets, never in a cell
Free tier limits are counted per minute and per day, and bulk processing of hundreds of rows hits them without warning

Studio itself is free. The paid API tier is enabled through Google Cloud billing with a card, invoiced in US dollars plus local tax where it applies.
