Gemini not working: five causes and what to do

Symptoms

• The message "Gemini isn't currently supported in your country" or a blank page
• Gemini is unavailable in a work Google account but works in a personal one
• The Gemini phone app refuses to log you in

Causes and fixes

1. Your Google account country is set to a place where Gemini is unavailable, for example because the account was created through a VPN

What to do: Check the country in your Google account settings (Data and privacy, Country) and change it if needed

2. The age on the account is under 18, and Gemini for younger users is open with restrictions only in some countries

3. A Workspace work account where the admin has not yet enabled Gemini

What to do: Ask the admin to enable Gemini in the Workspace console for your organizational unit

4. A VPN exiting in a country where Gemini is unavailable

What to do: Turn off the VPN or choose a server in a supported country

5. An outdated Google app on the phone
