Copilot in Word writes a draft from a description, rewrites a selected passage in the tone you need, turns text into a table, summarizes a long document and answers questions about it. In the business version it can refer to other company documents, emails and meetings through Microsoft Graph, so an internal order, a business letter or a contract is assembled from existing material. It comes with Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Pro.

Compare two versions of a contract with Word's built-in Compare and ask Copilot to explain the changes found: on its own it misses some edits
Rewriting in a different tone also changes the content: after Rewrite, check amounts, dates and party names against the original
In the business version Copilot may pull a passage from someone else's document you have access to: check the sources in the answer
